Creative Embellishments March 1 Challenge

Hello friends! Happy March to all of you! Today at Creative Embellishments, the team is sharing our projects on the March Moodboard.  The twist is to add a flourish.

March Moodboard - Twist:  Add A Flourish
I was inspired by a few things such as the flowers, butterflies, and the color green so I made a cutesy layout of these two cuties at their Easter photo shoot with an adorable little bunny.

I used the chipboard Ivy Wreath, the Spring Love title, the Grass Border and the wood veneer Butterflies. I painted the frame, title, and border in paints and I inked the butterflies and then added dots of paint with the tip of a paintbrush.

I used some circle punches and a scalloped circle punch and punched several circles of patterned papers some of which I machine stitched.

Flair always adds a bit of whimsy and goes with my circle theme.

I hope you are inspired to create something with chipboard and wood veneer embellishments.  All these and hundreds more are available in the Creative Embellishments Store.  As always, if you link up to the monthly challenge, there is a chance of winning a fabulous prize of goodies from the store!

Scrapping Our Stash February 2015 Blog Hop

Hello friends! I hope you are enjoying the February Scrapping Our Stash Blog Hop so far.  You should have arrived here from the very talented Suzanna Lee.

Scrapping my stash is easy. I am such a paper hoarder that it isn't funny.  I decided to do a summer layout of my daughter and son in law from their vacation last year in their new to them RV.

I used some Bella Blvd. Summer Squeeze patterned papers and stickers and also Bella Blvd.'s  crochet hearts and a crochet flower.  On most of my layouts, I like to add some sewing machine stitching  and some flair buttons from A Flair For Buttons.

I have a one inch square paper punch so I went crazy and punched out lots of squares from two different papers and adhered the blue cloud squares to the top of the layout to imitate a sky and used the plaid paper to coordinate and added that to the bottom of the layout.  I then added some patterned paper strips from the same collection.  This completed the background.  Then I went crazy with embellishing.

I am so glad you visited my blog and I appreciate my followers.  Thanks for hopping and next up is the amazingly talented Jennifer.

Found: Lucky Calf Layout

Hello friends! Today I wanted to share a layout I created for Creative Embellishments using five different items from the store.  I created a layout for my friend that lives on a ranch and is in the midst of calving season.  This little calf was in deep snow and needed to be rescued.  I just love calves, or any baby animal for that matter, don't you?

I added some white gesso to the background paper (the papers are from the We R Memory Keepers Indian Summer Collection) so it would tone the chevron print down so the photo would be more visible. I used the chipboard Rustic Shed Door,  Barbed Wire Border,  Social Hash Tags word #cute and also the Chicken Wire Panel.  I painted the chipboard in white gesso and let it dry and then added some Tim Holtz Gathered Twigs Distress Ink and Distress Stain to give it the weathered look.

Before I added the photo, I stamped with the Distressed Chicken Wire Stamp around the photo to give it some more texture.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure and stop by the Creative Embellishments store and blog to see lots more goodies and inspiration from the entire team.

Remember Today Layout

Hello friends! Today I have a second blog post and when I'm on a roll, I'm on a roll, so everything has to wait and I go and create.  For this layout, I used a free digital cut file from Paper Issues and cut it with my Cameo and added lots of papers from Bella Blvd.'s Lucky Starz Collection as well as Bella Blvd.'s Tiny Tots Collection.

I loved this cut file and immediately knew that I wanted to scrapbook a school themed page.  This little guy began preschool last September and he was so excited.

I backed the card stock background paper with lots and lots of paper scraps trying to use some bright and some muted papers to balance the layout.  After that I hand cut the photo and popped it up with some pop dots as well as some stickers.  The title was fussy cut and then I dabbed some mist and embellished with stickers, a button and a crochet heart for good measure.

Thanks for stopping by again! Have a wonderful day!

Flowers I Love You Layout

Hello friends! Hope you are having a good weekend so far. Today I wanted to share a layout I created using the February 2015 sketch over at Canadian Scrapbooker Magazine.  I love flowers and love to photograph flowers and create layouts of them often.  They just make me happy.

For this layout I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe and cut out the heart background on some black card stock then I used the cut outs as a template and hand cut several hearts and adhered them to the back of the card stock.  I love machine stitching on a layout and I think it gives the layout more of a homespun feel so I machine stitched around the outside edge of the hearts.

I fussy cut the title "I Love You" and machine stitched it to attach it to the layout.

Finally I added some sequins and a flair button and some journaling strips.  The patterned papers are from the new We R Memories Love Notes Collection.

Here is the sketch designed by Sue Sykes

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a great weekend doing something you love!

Little Guy Layout

Hello friends and fellow scrapbookers! Today I wanted to share a layout that I created of Quinn using a circle paper punch a star paper punch and my antique sewing machine.

This layout was so fun to create. For the patterned papers, I used the Bella Blvd. Tiny Tots Collection and also some stickers, chipboard embellishments and die cuts.  I love Paige Evans style of scrapbooking and this layout was inspired by her style.

I cut the punched circles in half and placed them on the layout in a pattern and then machine stitched.

I punched some stars with a star paper punch and placed them around the photo to create a "frame"

The red and yellow crochet hearts and the blue feather were added for texture and dimension.

I hope you enjoyed your visit today and are inspired to take out your paper punches and create a layout or card.  Thanks for stopping by!

Sweet Family Layout

Hello friends! Happy Monday! In my area we are celebrating a statutory holiday called Family Day so the schools and most people have the day off work.  In honour of today, I thought I would reflect on what my family means to me.  This is a layout of my two older children that are now 30 and 27 but in this photo, they were 14 months and 3 years old.  They were such buddies and are still very, very close.  They live quite a distance away from where I live, but they live close to each other so they see each other more often.  I sometimes reminisce about being a young mother and miss those times.

This layout is the second layout I have made with these hearts as the layout I posted yesterday was the first layout.  Yesterday, I used a cut file from The Cut Shoppe and watercolored the cardstock to make my own background.  For this layout, I used the cut out design as a stencil and watercoloured some hearts onto the white cardstock and also used some of the hearts from the original cut design and popped them up with some dimensional squares.

I used soft pastel watercolours and added some patterned papers from the Fancy Pants Be Loved Collection to mat my photo and then added some chipboard that I painted with acrylic paint and then added some cute wood veneer hearts. These are all from Creative Embellishments.

Finally I added some sequins from the Fancy Pants Everyday Circus Collection and a flair button from A Flair For Buttons.

I don't think the photos actually do this layout any justice. It really does look nicer in person.  Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!

Sweet Happy Valentine's Day Layout

Hello friends! Thanks for stopping by. Today I wanted to share a layout just because.  I thought I would try using some watercolors and see what I came up with.

I used the Echo Park Lucky In Love Collection and for the background paper and some papers and stickers.

For the diecut heart background, I experimented with some watercolor paints and painted a rainbow of colors on some white cardstock and then I used a digital cut file from The Cut Shoppe and cut it out on my Silhouette Cameo.  I loved the way it looks and also used some dimensional squares and popped up some of the watercolored punched out hearts.  I machine stitched around the outside edge to give it more of a homespun feel

I finally finished with a little paper layering and some flair.

Thanks for visiting today! I hope you have a great day!

Stuck?! Sketches February 15, 2015 Sketch And Reveal

Hello friends! It's time for another sketch reveal at Stuck?! Sketches.  Here is what I came up with for the sketch.  I love flowers and the Daylily is one of the flowers that I love.

There are lots of Heidi Swapp Colorshine Sprays (Chartreuse, Primrose, and Seafoam) as well as some chipboard and machine stitching on this layout.  I used a new paper collection called Love Notes from We R Memory Keepers and layered several papers. I really loved the raw look of the chipboard from Creative Embellishments for this layout so I kept them raw as well as the wood veneer hearts. My goal was to keep the focus on the photo.

I added some machine sticking for more texture and interest.

For this chipboard, I cut apart a wood chipboard border and adhered it to another chipboard heart. I then nested another wood veneer heart on top of a paper heart.

Laura Whitaker has done it again with a fresh, innovative sketch.

Creative Embellishments Guest Designing At Scrap Around The World

Hello friends! Today I am excited to share that the Creative Embellishments design team has been asked to guest design over at Scrap Around The World. I have always loved Scrap Around The World's mood boards and love all the beautiful eye candy I see on this website.  Below is the mood board the Creative Embellishments team had to work with:

I immediately was inspired by the girl's hair and it made me think of my daughter on her wedding day and her beautiful hair.  She looked like a princess and I wanted to create a shabby chic layout with lots of flowers and lace.

I began the layout by using two of the same pieces of patterned paper from the Bo Bunny Enchanted Collection and punched around the entire outside edge of one of the papers with a heart border punch.  I then cut a large square of the same paper and then distressed it and inked it with some distress paint.  I adhered it to the bottom sheet matching it up as close as possible.  I took some purple acrylic paint and a clear stamp and stamped randomly around the bottom paper.  Next, I chose the chipboard Doily Frame from Creative Embellishments and painted it with a coat of gesso and then dabbed on three different colours of acrylic paint.  For the Creative Embellishments chipboard Trellis, I also painted it with a coat of gesso and then painted it with green paint and then added some gesso here and there to give it a shabbier, vintage look.  I then went crazy with lots of flowers, lace, pearls and jewels.  Finally I took a sponge brush and dry brushed some gesso over the flowers and papers to give it more of a shabby chic look.  Finally I separated some strands of cheesecloth and wrapped it around some of the flowers to give it more texture.  Here are some closeups.

There are some AMAZING prizes to be won so be sure and link up at Scrap Around The World here.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
